Nvidia limited Anthropic's models to less sensitive work. Palantir asked for written guarantees.

Reuters reported on 14 September 2026, citing The Information, that Nvidia, Palantir and Booz Allen Hamilton have curbed their internal use of frontier AI models over concerns about what happens to their data.

Palantir has pressed Anthropic for irrevocable zero-data-retention guarantees before making its models available through Palantir's own software, according to the report.

Nvidia limits Anthropic's models to less sensitive tasks and uses its own Nemotron models for internal work. Booz Allen Hamilton has barred employees from using Anthropic's commercial model for proprietary cybersecurity work.

The trigger was a June policy change under which Claude retains usage logs for 30 days for security purposes. OpenAI has faced its own questions about training on user data.

Both companies say they do not train on customer data by default unless a customer opts in.

These buyers are AI companies reading another AI company's data policy, rather than cautious enterprises waiting on slow legal teams.

What retention guarantee did you get in writing before your agents touched production data?
