It is a digitally signed ID given to each AI agent, the software that carries out tasks on its own. The ID states what that agent may and may not do, the publication diginomica reported. In the demonstration, a refunds agent with a $25 limit approved an $18 request.

The controls are graduated. "You monitor, you pause, you restrict, and eventually, if necessary, you deactivate," said Nenshad Bardoliwalla, ServiceNow's senior vice president of AI products. ServiceNow expects Passport to be available in the fourth quarter.

NVIDIA is the first launch partner. Its Open Agent Safety Platform, a system for enforcing rules on AI agents, will enforce the policies ServiceNow supplies, diginomica reported.

The reports gave no price and named no customers using Passport. diginomica noted that the product moves ServiceNow closer to companies that control what each user may access in which systems. ServiceNow's partner Okta is one of them.
