Nvidia launched its desktop AI computer at $4,000. Nvidia now charges $6,950.
The DGX Spark desktop AI computer with 128 GB of memory now costs nearly 75% more than at launch, The Register reported on Friday.
The publication tied the increase to the memory shortage pushing up chip prices across the industry.
NVIDIA also added a $4,999 model with half the memory and half the storage. Memory bandwidth remains 273 GB/s, and up to four boxes can be linked at 200 Gbps each, The Register reported. Nvidia pitches the cheaper model for private AI agents running on models of 26 to 35 billion parameters.
When Nvidia showed the machine at CES in January 2025, the expected price was around $3,000, according to The Register. It launched at $4,000. Today's cheaper model costs $999 more than that original machine and has half its memory.
Anyone comparing AI on their own machines with cloud services needs to redo the hardware sums. The original configuration now costs $2,950 more.
