Samsung and affiliates committed $1 billion to AI infrastructure.
Samsung Electronics said on Tuesday it will put $500 million into Helix Digital Infrastructure, CNBC reported.
Five Samsung affiliates, among them Samsung SDS and Samsung Life Insurance, add the other $500 million.
Helix was launched in June by investment firm KKR. It builds very large data centres and the infrastructure around them, including power generation, transmission lines and fibre networks.
It is led by Adam Selipsky, the former chief executive of Amazon Web Services.
KKR, the Kuwait Investment Authority, NVIDIA and US power company Vistra are founding investors. More than $10 billion was committed before Samsung joined, according to KKR.
Samsung Electronics shares rose 2.13% on Tuesday morning while Korea's Kospi index fell 0.53%.
Samsung said the money would help speed up the global rollout of AI data centres alongside Helix.
