SAP will stop giving away its AI agent builder after December. Its release note gives no price for the premium version.
45,000 cloud customers now use its AI. It did not say how many build their own agents or which customers have tried the builder, SAP said.
The agent builder is part of Joule Studio, which is rolling out in phases. It builds agents that work across SAP and other systems. SAP says it stays free until December 2026; the skill builder, for reusable everyday tasks, remains a base feature.
SAP estimates a 35% reduction in the time needed to build and deploy custom agents. The named customer examples concern other tools: PwC uses the Billing Assistant, while Wipro reports a 40% cut in development effort with Joule for Consultants.
For anyone budgeting a custom agent, the free period has an end date. The price is still missing, along with whether SAP will charge for building agents, running them or both.

For your next steering committee
- 1Ask which AI tools already touch your ERP or finance data, including the ones nobody approved.
- 2Ask what each tool is allowed to change, and who reviews what it changed.
- 3Ask how the result is measured, and who decides to switch a tool off.
