Oracle's co-CEO says 'up to' figures in data-centre press releases mean nothing. Separately, diginomica reported a power delay at Oracle's Wisconsin site.
Clay Magouyrk, co-CEO of Oracle, told Oracle AI World that readers of data-centre announcements skip over the words "up to".
His line, reported by diginomica: "Up to is a very important concept. It means irrelevant."
He pointed to delivery instead. Oracle says it delivered 850 megawatts of data-centre capacity last quarter and has more than 1,000 AI customers on its platform.
The same diginomica report describes delays getting power at an Oracle site in Wisconsin and community pushback over a Michigan project. Magouyrk said projects this size were complicated and that ordinary setbacks now make front-page news.
Oracle's shares fell about 50% over the past calendar year, according to diginomica, largely because of its rising spending commitments.
The 850 megawatts is a count for all of Oracle. A customer waiting on capacity in one region still needs that region's date, and the remarks did not give one.
