SAP will add AI to its sovereign cloud in three countries, none of them Germany. SAP's German users want a date.

SAP plans to add its AI services, AI Core, Joule and Datasphere, to the SAP Sovereign Cloud, initially in the United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, Computerwoche reported from SAP TechEd.

SAP's own TechEd guide lists them for the fourth quarter of 2026.

A sovereign cloud runs under local control and local law. That matters to governments, banks and operators of critical infrastructure.

SAP is based in Walldorf, Germany. Its German-speaking user group, DSAG, welcomed the move. Technology board member Stefan Nogly said sovereign AI is a central topic for members in public administration, finance and critical infrastructure, and that DSAG now wants a clear timeline soon for the German-speaking countries.

DSAG also repeated its demand that SAP stop tying access to AI to cloud contracts, because many members still run their systems partly or fully on their own servers. It wants reliable figures on what assistants and agents actually consume before it can plan the costs.

The gap is in the calendar: three countries have a quarter, while SAP's home region has no date yet.
