IHG's lawyers approved an Oracle AI agent that books job interviews. One that matches applicants to jobs drew questions.
At Oracle AI World in Las Vegas, four customers of Oracle's human resources (HR) software said legal sign-off and process fixes come before its AI agents, diginomica reported on 28 October.
Matt McDonald, director of HR technology at hotel group IHG, described taking agents to the company's lawyers. For interview scheduling the answer was "Great, do it." For a candidate-matching agent he put the lawyers' question as "Where's the human in the loop?"
Deutsche Bahn moved its HR to Oracle's cloud two years ago. Its head of HR IT systems, Daniel Passarge, said EU AI rules make the work much more time-consuming. Meanwhile, its works councils ask when the AI is coming. He also said the rules help the railway think things through.
Acosta Group's advice to other buyers was to bring lawyers in from day one, because they slow projects down.
IHG's account splits an agent that fills a calendar from one that helps choose people. The second is where its lawyers asked about human checks.

For your next steering committee
- 1Ask which AI tools already touch your ERP or finance data, including the ones nobody approved.
- 2Ask what each tool is allowed to change, and who reviews what it changed.
- 3Ask how the result is measured, and who decides to switch a tool off.
