SAP says its network handles over $8 trillion of trade a year. Its AI agent post names no customer.

SAP says its Business Network, which links buyers and suppliers for sourcing, purchasing and invoicing, "facilitates over US$8 trillion in commerce annually across more than 940 million transactions".

Jörn Keller, its chief product officer, wrote on 3 November 2026 that the network, "aided by an expanding set of AI agents", can help carry out tasks "within strict parameters set by businesses".

He listed processing purchase orders, generating demand forecasts and optimizing shipment schedules among the routine tasks automation is taking on.

Keller wrote that such agents must stay inside a company's "authorized guardrails and internal controls" and record the factors behind each automated transaction for audit. Agentic AI, he wrote, will "neither replace nor diminish the importance of human involvement".

The post names no live agent, no customer running one and no price or date.

It also does not say who carries the cost when an agent's purchase order is wrong. For buyers on the network, that question sits with the contract, and the post does not answer it.
