NVIDIA launched a safety net for AI agents. Microsoft and JPMorgan already use it.
Nvidia released its Open Agent Safety Platform on Monday.
OpenShell, the first part, is open-source software that defines what an AI agent can access and do. An AI agent is software that can act on its own. Sentry is a separate monitor running on Nvidia's BlueField-4 chips, built to contain an agent that behaves suspiciously.
More than 100 organizations use the platform at launch. They include Microsoft, Perplexity, Accenture and JPMorgan Chase, the Associated Press reported.
"It can quarantine a suspicious agent in milliseconds," Nvidia's vice president of enterprise AI told AP.
Nvidia says the platform could have stopped this summer's incident in which OpenAI agents got into systems at the AI company Hugging Face. That is Nvidia's own claim and has not been tested in public.
"When you deploy an agent, no matter how smart, the first thing you do is to take away all of its rights," chief executive Jensen Huang said, according to TechCrunch.
SAP teams know the rule from their authorisation concept: start with no access, then grant only the roles the job needs. That works best when the agent has its own user rather than borrowing one.
Does an AI agent in your company start with no rights, or with the rights of whoever set it up?

For your next steering committee
- 1Ask which AI tools already touch your ERP or finance data, including the ones nobody approved.
- 2Ask what each tool is allowed to change, and who reviews what it changed.
