SAP's support fee ceiling moved from 3.3% to 5.0%.
The annual adjustment follows the local CPI rate and stops at a cap.
SAP raised that cap to 5.0% for 2024 and has held it at 5.0% for 2025 and again for 2026. Standard Support and Enterprise Support are in scope, as is Product Support for Large Enterprises. SAP says this is not an increase in list prices. The cost moves through compounding.
Take a €1 million maintenance base from 2023 and apply the full cap three years running. The annual bill becomes €1,157,625. That is €157,625 more every year from here, and €310,125 handed over across the three years, for on-premise licences you already own and a roadmap that now points somewhere else.
Licence reviews check the discount on the next purchase. Very few model the maintenance line five years out.
