SAP added AI roleplays to renewals for 100+ certifications. A stand-alone quiz remains.
Starting in October, people renewing an SAP certification can complete short roleplays of customer conversations run by AI, SAP said on its News Center.
Instead of only answering product questions, they work through a simulated customer situation. SAP's announcement says each one ends with feedback on what went well and where to improve.
Anyone who prefers or needs a non-AI route can still take the quiz, according to SAP.
SAP is also adding a 90-day renewal window. Pass inside it and the certification continues based on its original expiry date.
At SAP TechEd in Berlin, SAP will pilot counting on-site, hands-on sessions toward renewal for learners who qualify.
The announcement does not say who checks the AI's grading or how a roleplay is scored. SAP also did not say whether a failed roleplay can be retried or what renewal costs.
The post is by Diana Alexandra Roesner, who heads Certification Transformation at SAP.

For your next steering committee
- 1Ask when each major software contract renews and what notice period applies.
- 2Ask which price protections are written into the contract and which rest on a sales conversation.
- 3Ask what a price rise on that line would do to the run budget, and who would notice it first.
