Business Insider had reported talks at about $2 billion earlier that month.

Listen Labs, founded in 2023, uses AI agents to plan research, recruit participants, conduct interviews and summarise the results. Salesforce says it draws on a network of more than 50 million participants and works in over 120 languages, cutting research timelines from months to days.

"With AI, a company can now have thousands of real conversations at once," said Alfred Wahlforss, the startup's chief executive and co-founder.

Salesforce expects the deal to close in its fiscal fourth quarter, subject to regulatory approval. It follows the $3.6 billion purchase of Fin in June.

Would you trust an AI's summary of a thousand customer interviews more than a research agency's report?
