Zeiss dropped the clean rebuild of its SAP after about €200 million.
ZEISS has dropped the greenfield approach to its SAP S/4HANA migration, The Register reported.
It will move the systems it already runs onto the new platform instead.
Bloomberg reported that the group had spent about 200 million euros on the programme, which covers the whole migration and not SAP software alone. According to The Register, the project started around 2020.
A Zeiss spokesperson told The Register: "This also applies to the ERP migration, which has now been realigned to achieve faster progress in the transformation and to better meet the diverse requirements of the ZEISS segments."
The company introduced R/3 in 1992, The Register said. SAP released S/4HANA in 2015, and mainstream ECC support ends in 2027.
Greenfield means redesigning processes on an empty system. Brownfield carries the system you already have, and 30 years of what was done to it.
