SAP says more than 18,000 people work for it in India, its second-largest location. Teams there help build Joule, SAP's AI assistant.
SAP's newsroom gave the figure on 2 November.
The Bengaluru campus, opened by SAP in August 2025, cost €194 million and has room for 15,000 more employees. It is the company's largest research and development hub outside Germany.
Chief executive Christian Klein said: "India has all the ingredients required to win in AI." SAP cites more than 2.5 million graduates in science, technology, engineering and maths in India this year, and describes India's role in building Joule, its AI assistant, as growing.
The article gives no hiring plan or timetable for the extra places, and no figures for SAP's other locations.
For SAP consultants, that makes Bengaluru a growing source of the AI features they will roll out. The 15,000 places are room to grow, not a hiring commitment.
