SAP paid about €518 million for AI start-up Prior Labs. Last quarter it added less than €1 million to SAP's sales.
The figures come from SAP's own quarterly statement of 21 October.
The Prior Labs deal closed on 16 July, so the start-up counted for about two and a half months of the quarter. Prior Labs builds AI models trained on business tables.
It was one of three data firms SAP bought this year. Reltio cost about €1,076 million and Dremio about €515 million, about €2.1 billion for the three. Together they added €49 million to third-quarter revenue, the statement shows. They also cut operating profit by €59 million under IFRS accounting rules. SAP calls the accounting for all three deals preliminary.
This week SAP said it has built Reltio and Dremio technology into Business Data Cloud, its platform for company data. It announced this at its TechEd developer conference in Berlin on 29 October. The release gives no prices. It says Reltio's matching of duplicate records is now generally available, with no dates for the other features.
For a customer budgeting for Business Data Cloud, the cost of the new features is still open. SAP may earn Prior Labs back inside other products rather than as its own sales, and the statement does not say which.
