The news behind the software that runs companies, explained for everyone.

AI at work

Salesforce said 75% of leads went unanswered. It credits AI agents with $88 million.

Salesforce had 100 million sales leads, and about three in four went unanswered before it added AI agents, software that carries out tasks on its own.

Its sales vice president for Israel gave the figures at a Tel Aviv conference, the Israeli outlet CTech reported on Sunday.

The agent now makes the first contact. It hands the conversation to a person when a personal touch is needed, he said.

He put revenue from the initiative at more than $88 million. Answering the same number of leads with staff would have needed about 400 more employees, he estimated.

Salesforce gave no period for the $88 million. It also did not say how much of the money came from the agents themselves, or what the agents cost. Without those figures, nobody outside Salesforce can compare the agents' cost with the cost of 400 more staff.

He also said companies cannot "keep an organization and its business processes as they are and just layer AI on top".
