Salesforce bought Fin for $3.6 billion. Fin says AI writes most of its code.
Salesforce agreed in June to buy Fin, the Irish company formerly called Intercom, for about $3.6 billion, and completed the deal in September.
Fin sells an AI agent that answers customer-service questions for about 30,000 companies.
On 8 October diginomica reported what Fin's chief product officer, Paul Adams, told the company's Pioneer conference: "This time last year, Claude Code did not write Fin; today Claude Code writes the majority of Fin." Claude Code is Anthropic's coding assistant. He added that it builds the product "under our direction". He also said some customers see "80-90% resolution rates".
The article carries no comment from Salesforce on the code claim.
The arithmetic: $3.6 billion across about 30,000 customers is roughly $120,000 a customer. Adams spoke four months after the price was agreed, and the article does not say what Salesforce knew about how Fin is built when it signed.
For a buyer, code written by an assistant is a way of working, not proof of control. The open question is who reviews and tests each change before it reaches a customer's support desk.
What has your support-software vendor told you about who reviews the code an AI writes?
