Discussions are at an early stage and the terms could change.

The $1.4 trillion valuation includes the new money. That is about 64% above the value OpenAI reached in its March funding round.

Bloomberg describes it as bridge financing, giving OpenAI more time before a stock market listing.

Axios reported that OpenAI's annualised revenue has grown more than 70% since the start of July, reaching nearly $70 billion. It could not see the company's costs.

At OpenAI's developer conference on Tuesday, chief executive Sam Altman told CNBC he has no set timeline for a listing. OpenAI declined to comment on the funding talks.
