Roche has started building autonomous labs. AI proposes an experiment for the lab to run. The results then train the AI again. The company set out six levels of autonomy for that work.
It plans to reallocate about CHF 2 billion ($2.41 billion) of research savings by 2026. Separately, it targets up to 20 new molecular entities, potential new medicines, by 2030. Company figures show its Phase III, or late-stage, trial success rate is above 80% this year, against 65% in 2025.
Most companies do not measure how many of their big decisions involved AI. Roche now reports that share to investors.
