Microsoft scheduled Project Online's retirement; it arrives in 19 days.
Microsoft retires Project Online on 30 September 2026, The Register reported on 9 September.
Counting from 11 September, that is 19 days.
Project Online Essentials reaches end of life the next day, on 1 October, and Publisher leaves Microsoft 365 on the same date, according to the report.
Microsoft tells Essentials customers to move to "Planner Plan 1 or Planner and Project Plan 3, depending on the capabilities and Project Server access rights" they need. The Register notes those replacements carry a higher licensing cost that "may not appeal to everyone". Essentials has been closed to new customers since October 2025.
Users must be moved before 1 October to "avoid interrupting their access", Microsoft says.
A licence swap is the small half of this. The schedules, baselines and actuals sitting in the old service are the half nobody has scoped, and 19 days is not long enough to find out they matter.
