Microsoft says Canada Goose cut its month-end close to five days from eight. It had used old software and Excel.
The parka maker replaced AX 2012, an old Microsoft accounting system, with Microsoft's Dynamics 365 Finance, according to a customer story Microsoft published on 27 October.
Closing the books each month now takes five business days instead of eight, a cut Microsoft puts at 37%. The team of over 50 handles more than 40 legal entities and about 700 journal entries a month, and saves 3,500 minutes of manual work monthly, the story says.
Canada Goose has switched on an AI agent that automates the reconciliation of detailed ledgers to the general ledger. A second agent, which finds purchasing information, has finished user testing and is planned to go live in autumn 2026.
"Our focus is on making finance simpler and more effective so our teams can spend more time understanding performance," said Neil Bowden, the chief financial officer.
Our arithmetic: 3,500 minutes is about 58 hours a month, equivalent to under 70 minutes per finance employee. Days to close and hours saved measure different things; the story does not say which step got faster. The story gives no project cost.
The figures are Canada Goose's and Microsoft's own. The story cites no outside check.
