The news behind the software that runs companies, explained for everyone.

AI at work

Google released an AI face for companies that talks in 97 languages.

Google released Gemini 3.8 Live with Live Avatar on 24 September, according to its blog.

The avatar is an animated face generated in near real time. It speaks with customers, matching its lips and expressions to the conversation.

It works in 97 languages and can switch between them "without degrading video fidelity or introducing visual drift," Google wrote. While talking, it can watch a live camera feed or shared screen.

It is available to companies through Gemini Enterprise on Google Cloud. Google's example is a hotel check-in.

They can also build a custom avatar from a reference image, keeping their "brand styling, or character identity." For now, that option is limited to allowlisted enterprise customers.

Every video and audio output carries SynthID, Google's invisible watermark, so it can later be identified as AI-generated.

Would your customers prefer the AI face if they knew it was software?
