Cognizant assigned 18,000-plus staff to build Google AI agents for clients. Terms were undisclosed.
Cognizant and Google Cloud announced a Gemini Frontier Capability Group on 19 October.
Cognizant says more than 18,000 of its staff will build AI agents for clients on Gemini, Google's AI platform. The Next Web reported that no financial terms were disclosed.
The group will start with four kinds of work: updating old systems, developer tools, automating business processes and cyber defence. Its stated aim is to move agents from pilots into daily use.
Cognizant had about 357,000 staff at the end of June, so the group is roughly one in twenty of them. More than 55,000 staff have finished a Gemini training workshop, according to the company. It is also rolling Gemini out to 100,000 of its own employees this year, with a plan to reach 200,000.
Cognizant cites one example, an unnamed retailer, where it says developer productivity rose 40% and costs fell 35%. The Next Web noted that the figures have not been independently checked.
Cognizant is not exclusive to Google. In April it was among the first firms to join OpenAI's Codex partner programme.
