Oracle gave UCLA $3.1m in credits. UCLA's whole ERP programme cost at least $213m.
Also in 30 seconds: Kroger's plan to cut 3,000 office jobs, HCLTech's AI revenue, and Microsoft's engineering centre in Nairobi.
1. Oracle grants UCLA $3.1 million in credits and waives $1.31 million in fees, The Register reported. UCLA had paused its new finance system in 2024. The $213 million, reported by the Daily Bruin, covers the whole programme, not Oracle's bill. Neither side admitted liability. UCLA can use the credits only against Oracle charges it still pays before May 2028. Their value depends on how much it spends with Oracle by then. 2. Kroger plans to cut about 3,000 of its 8,200 corporate roles over three years, Reuters reported. Its chief executive's memo cited duplicative work and technology. 3. HCLTech, the Indian IT services group, said its advanced AI revenue rose 78% to $219 million in the quarter, Investing.com reported. That is 5.9% of its $3,724 million in revenue. 4. Staff told CIO Africa that Microsoft's Africa Development Centre in Nairobi is closing, Techweez reported. Microsoft confirmed only "proposed changes" affecting its engineering department in Kenya.
If your ERP programme stopped, would you take the settlement in vendor credits or only in cash?
