Also in 30 seconds: 20,000 Salesforce staff in new roles, 18,000 Cognizant staff who will build Google AI agents, and one finance reporting format across BMW, by SAP's account.

1. The UK Court of Appeal refused Microsoft permission to take its dispute with ValueLicensing to the Supreme Court, The Register reported. ValueLicensing resells used software licences. It sued in 2021 for £270 million, claiming Microsoft restricted the supply of surplus Office licences. That is the amount claimed, not an award by a court. Microsoft denied wrongdoing and can still apply to the Supreme Court within 28 days.

For UK buyers of used Microsoft licences, the 2025 ruling that lets ValueLicensing resell them stays in place for now.

2. At least 20,000 of Salesforce's more than 85,000 employees moved into "very different roles and jobs" over 18 months, finance and operations chief Robin Washington said, diginomica reported. Washington linked the moves to AI agents, software that carries out tasks, and gave no cost or count of roles cut.

3. More than 18,000 Cognizant staff will build AI agents for clients on Gemini, Google's AI system, Cognizant and Google Cloud said, The Next Web reported. No financial terms were disclosed.

4. SAP says BMW Group now uses one standard format for finance reporting across manufacturing, sales and financial services, with about 800 processes standardised. SAP did not disclose the cost or timeline.

If you buy Microsoft licences in the UK, has your purchasing team ever checked the price of used ones?
