SAP now moves customers' money through its own payment firm. It named no fee.
SAP launched SAP Pay at its Connect event, ERP Today reported on 7 October.
It is generally available in the US and UK for customers of SAP Cloud ERP, its cloud business software, and runs on Tereina, the regulated payment provider SAP founded in April.
SAP Pay pays invoices inside that software and matches payments to invoices or purchase orders. Customers need SAP's Multi-Bank Connectivity add-on. Bank transfers, wires and cheques are supported, along with cross-border payments using stablecoins.
Circle, the stablecoin issuer, said its USDC and EURC stablecoins, pegged to the dollar and the euro, are available to SAP customers through SAP Pay. The companies say the SAP ecosystem generates 84% of global commerce. Tereina and Circle plan customer programmes over the coming months to test its value.
Neither announcement names a fee. Treasury still needs that number to compare SAP Pay with its banks. A stablecoin payment also has its own costs: who converts the money into and out of USDC or EURC, and at what rate. Neither announcement says, and neither gives a customer count.
What would your treasury need to see before it moved cross-border payments into SAP Pay?
