Salesforce won a UK tax tender worth up to £2bn. HMRC first estimated £1bn.
Also in 30 seconds: a German patent ruling against SAP, Workday's pitch for customers' outsourcing budgets, and Ericsson's price quotes on SAP's software.
1. Salesforce announced an agreement of up to 15 years with HMRC, the UK tax authority, on 15 October. HMRC first estimated the purchase at £1 billion in April 2025, The Register reported. The later tender valued it at up to £2 billion before VAT, the UK sales tax. Neither source explains the gap between the two valuations, and neither includes a response from HMRC. 2. The Munich I Regional Court found that a function in Signavio Process Intelligence, SAP's process-analysis software, infringes a patent held by Celonis, a German software firm, Handelsblatt reported. SAP must stop offering it in Germany and pay damages. SAP will appeal; the judgment is not final. 3. Workday chief AI officer Joel Hellermark told analysts that automating work could take the company into "the labor and services spend," the money paid for staff and outside firms, The Register reported. That is where customers spend "tens of millions of dollars on outsourcing," he said. Chief executive Aneel Bhusri wants AI agents, software that carries out tasks, billed by use. Workday has mostly priced per employee. 4. Some Ericsson price quotes took "more than two weeks," SAP wrote in a customer story. Customers now create quotes themselves in an online shop built on SAP Commerce Cloud, and SAP says many take minutes. It gives no usage share or project cost.
