OpenAI launched dots, agents that reach 4,000 apps and never log off.

OpenAI introduced dots at its DevDay event on Tuesday, TechCrunch reported. Each dot is an AI agent powered by GPT-6 Astra that runs on a cloud computer of its own and keeps working on a user's goals between conversations. OpenAI says a dot can work "24/7" and connect to over 4,000 apps through its plugin ecosystem.
Users reach a dot through ChatGPT, Slack, Teams or a voice call, and OpenAI says they decide when it may act without asking. One dot comes with the ChatGPT Pro and Business Premium plans from 29 September in eligible markets. Enterprise workspaces need an admin to switch it on.
9to5Google listed one of OpenAI's internal examples, and it is a finance chore: a dot noticed invoices had not been sent and drafted them for the user's approval.
Specialist dots can carry their own credentials, TechCrunch reported. Before one touches the ledger, someone has to decide whose name its postings go out under.
Which task would you let an agent do without asking first?
