Microsoft dropped Nscale's planned UK AI site. Nscale blames a London-wide grid issue.
Also in 30 seconds: Accenture's Greater China review, with a sale reported at up to $1.5bn, and the more than $88 million Salesforce credits to its AI agent push.
1. Microsoft has ended its agreement to be the main customer of Nscale's planned AI data centre in Loughton, Essex, The Telegraph reported. The 50-megawatt site, planned for 23,040 Nvidia chips, was due in 2027. Grid officials said it might not get enough electricity until the early to mid-2030s, The Register reported. Nscale said its relationship with Microsoft "remains strong and long-term". Microsoft did not respond to The Register.
For anyone buying AI capacity, the date the grid can supply a site now belongs in the due diligence.
2. Accenture hired JPMorgan to review its Greater China business after buyers showed interest without being asked, Reuters reported. A sale could fetch up to $1.5 billion, the Financial Times reported, and Accenture may keep a significant minority stake. Neither report says whether that figure values the whole business or only the stake sold. Accenture and JPMorgan did not immediately respond.
3. Salesforce had 100 million sales leads, and about three in four went unanswered before it added AI agents, its Israel sales vice president said, CTech reported. He put revenue from the initiative at more than $88 million. Salesforce gave no period, no cost for the agents and did not say how much of it the agents brought in.
If you plan AI workloads in a new data centre, has your provider confirmed its grid connection date?
