Meta announced Meta VR Glasses on 23 September 2026, during its annual Connect event. The battery and processors sit in a puck that clips to your belt, tethered to the frames. Meta says that is how the glasses come in at about 100 grams, "five times lighter" than its Quest 3 headset.

Meta calls the display 5K and builds it on micro-OLED panels. The price is $1,299.99. Sales start in spring 2027, so nobody can buy a pair yet.

Meta's own film pitches them as a cinema, a stadium, a workplace and a games console in one pair of glasses. For a company buyer, the workplace is the one to watch. Less weight on the face may make a long review easier to sit through, but the puck and the cable still go wherever the wearer goes.

The same keynote brought Ray-Ban Meta Gen 3 glasses, which Meta says last up to nine hours, and a Mac app for Muse, its AI assistant.

Would your teams wear VR glasses through a two-hour design review at 100 grams, or was weight never what stopped them?
