About 80% of SAP's product-development work now goes into AI. Handelsblatt says it has brought little revenue so far.
Also in 30 seconds: $2.7 trillion in AI commitments at Microsoft, Oracle and three peers, and BT's claim that AI cut one bid response from 14 weeks to three minutes.
1. The 80% share covers SAP's product-development resources, not its total spending, the German business paper reported. It goes into the AI assistant Joule and the technology behind it. CEO Christian Klein told Handelsblatt some functions are still being built and are not yet live. SAP's results release a day earlier gave no separate AI revenue figure.
If you run SAP, check which AI functions are live in your release before you budget for them.
2. Microsoft, Meta, Alphabet, Amazon and Oracle hold $1.1 trillion in binding leases and $1.6 trillion in other commitments for AI, a Flossbach von Storch Research Institute study of filings with the SEC, the US markets regulator, found, Handelsblatt reported. The study says none of it is on their balance sheets yet, the statements of what they own and owe. Oracle carries $88 billion of the group's $106 billion adjusted net debt.
3. UK telecoms group BT says AI tools cut one bid response from 14 weeks to three minutes, diginomica reported from business software maker ServiceNow's World Forum in London. The figure is BT's own. Jon James, chief executive of BT Business, called agents that run without a human "a huge decision", because BT works for national security and air traffic control.
Is any SAP Business AI function live in your production system yet?
