The work is to check whether the agency is ready for S/4HANA and plan the move. S/4HANA is the current finance and operations software from SAP. The estimated value is $50 million to $100 million.

The contractor will work out what the move needs and plan it. Meanwhile, the agency keeps managing its finances. It also keeps its internal checks running and stays ready for audits. Payment is by time spent and materials used.

The Department of Homeland Security published the forecast on Tuesday. It lists GDIT, General Dynamics Information Technology, as the current contractor. The request for bids is expected around 23 October. The current contract period is listed through 11 September 2029.

The agency will move to the department's shared financial system. The Coast Guard, the Transportation Security Administration and the Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office already use it. The Coast Guard manages a $12 billion annual budget through that system.

The forecast prices only the preparation. It gives no figure for the migration itself.
