Tesla wants 50,000 dollars up front. The price is still unknown.
Yahoo Finance reported this on 23 September, citing the news outlet Electrek.
It said that Tesla reopened reservations for its next-generation Roadster on 22 September and is asking 50,000 dollars for a place in the queue.
The reservation starts with a 5,000 dollar credit-card payment that Tesla labels "fully refundable". The buyer then has 10 days to send another 45,000 dollars by bank transfer.
Tesla has not said what the car will cost. The company says the unveiling on 1 October, near Waco, Texas, will cover pricing and specifications. It will also set out production targets.
People who reserved in November 2017 are still waiting, about nine years on. An offer called the Founders Series required buyers to pay 250,000 dollars in full, up front. The car has been delayed at least eight times since it was first shown.
Chief executive Elon Musk said of the event: "It'll be a banger. Excitement guaranteed. Success is not guaranteed, but excitement is."
The report does not say what terms apply to the 45,000 dollar bank transfer.
