A quote used to pass between account representatives, contract checks and approval steps. "In some cases, generating a quote could take more than two weeks," SAP wrote in a customer story on 15 October.

Ericsson's customers now open a digital storefront built on SAP Commerce Cloud and see the products and prices in their own contract. They create the quote and place the order themselves. SAP says many of those requests now take minutes or even seconds.

Ericsson's next question, according to SAP, is whether an AI agent could do those tasks.

This is SAP's own account of a customer project. It does not say what share of quotes now runs through the storefront or how many orders it handles. The project cost is not given either. SAP gives no typical quote time before or after the change.

  1. 1Ask which exit clauses your largest software and services contracts carry, and when each can be used.
  2. 2Ask what leaving would cost, in money and in months.
  3. 3Ask who reads the contract when a dispute starts, and whether they have read it before.
