Oracle planned a Wisconsin AI campus for 2027. Its power hook-up is still unapproved.
A grid connection could delay Oracle's AI data centre in Port Washington, Wisconsin, The Register reported on Friday, citing research firm Aterio.
Customer delivery was planned for the second half of 2027.
The Project Lighthouse campus, developed by Vantage, needs 1.3 GW of electricity for 902 MW of computing. According to the report, it cannot run until American Transmission Company connects it to the grid, and that connection still needs approval from Wisconsin's Public Service Commission.
Aterio's base case is partial power in December 2027 and full supply in October 2028; in a slower case, full supply comes in April 2029.
Oracle did not comment for The Register's report.
Under Aterio's base case, that leaves 10 to 15 months between the planned customer delivery and full power. What customers can use in between depends on the partial supply, and the report says Oracle could face more than $100 million a year in financing costs for its power commitments.
