38% of SAP users kept S/4HANA on budget, ASUG found. 61% hit the date.

The Americas' SAP Users' Group surveyed 194 members for its 2026 S/4HANA research, published by diginomica on 6 October.

ASUG found 68% are live on SAP S/4HANA or moving to it from ECC.

35% of respondents said costs met their budget expectations and 3% came in under budget, 38% in all. Systems integrators and partners were the largest cost, at 37% of the budget.

More projects are meeting their deadlines: 61% reported on-time go-lives in 2026, up from 56% in 2025. A go-live took 1.4 years on average: 15.8 months for brownfield, 20.2 for greenfield.

The research also found 31% are discussing SAP's AI without a meaningful strategy behind it. ASUG chief executive Geoff Scott said the conversation has moved from getting to S/4HANA to getting value from it.

The published findings do not give the share of projects over budget or the size of any overrun.

On your S/4HANA programme, which did the steering committee watch more closely, the date or the budget?
